Privacy Policy

Annie's Waxing is a one-person studio in Sherwood Park, Alberta. This page explains, in plain language, what information this website collects, why we need it, and who else can see it.

When you book online we ask for your first and last name, your phone number, and your email address, along with the services you would like and the time you want. That is everything the booking form asks for.

If you book by phone instead, Annie enters those same details for you, and she may add a short note about your visit so she can look after you properly next time.

We ask for a card to hold your appointment time. You are not charged when you book.

Your card number and security code are typed directly into Square's own secure payment form. They never reach this website's servers or its database. What we keep is a reference number from Square, plus the card brand, the last four digits, the expiry date and the name on the card, which is enough for Annie to see which card is on file and nothing more.

We also record that you agreed to keep the card on file, the moment you agreed, and the internet address you booked from. If a charge is ever questioned, that record is the only evidence we have, which is why we keep it.

A card is only ever charged by Annie, by hand, after an appointment is missed or cancelled. Nothing is charged automatically, and no charge is made without her deciding to make it.

Your appointment is copied into Annie's own Google Calendar so she can see her day on her phone. That copy carries your name, phone number and email address, together with any note about your visit, including the notes Annie keeps for herself, such as a product to avoid or a sensitivity to work around.

It is her personal calendar, not a shared or public one. You are not added to the appointment as a guest, so nobody is invited and nobody else is notified.

We email you a confirmation and a reminder, and we tell you if your appointment is changed or cancelled. Those emails come from our own Gmail address, shown at the bottom of this page.

We may also text you at the number you gave us, for those same reasons and nothing else. Those texts go through SMS Gateway (sms-gate.app), which receives your phone number and the text of the message. If you would rather not get texts, reply to one or call us and we will stop.

We never send marketing email or texts, and we never add you to a mailing list.

We count how many times each page is viewed, so Annie knows whether the site is doing its job. We do not store your IP address, and we do not store anything about your browser or your device.

This site sets no cookies of its own, and there is no advertising or tracking code anywhere on it. To tell one visit apart from another we keep a random number inside your browser tab. It is not connected to you in any way, and it disappears the moment you close the tab. That is why you were not asked to accept cookies when you arrived.

Only the services we need in order to run the booking. Square stores your card. Google hosts Annie's calendar. Gmail carries the email. Two hosting companies run this website and its database, and a copy of the database is saved once a day to private storage at Cloudflare so that a failure cannot lose your booking history.

Each of those companies has its own privacy policy, and some of them keep data on servers outside Canada. We never sell your information, and we never share it for advertising.

We keep your booking history for as long as you are a client, so Annie knows what you have had done before. There is no fixed expiry date on it.

You can ask us to delete your information, or to take your card off file, at any time and we will do it. Just email or call using the details at the bottom of this page.

Under Canada's PIPEDA and Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act you can ask to see the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or withdraw your consent to keep a card on file. Just ask, using the same email address or phone number below.

If we change how any of this works, we will update this page and change the date shown at the top of it.
